An Unspectacular Life
"An Unspectacular life", is an autobiographical
telling of my life as a small town gay teenager in the
early eighties. My heroes and role models were Boy
George and the rest of the pop stars who emerged from
the second British music evasion. It is still only a
draft but I decided to post the story as a serial to
create a momentum that would see me through writing it
until it's conclusion.

PART TWELVE:
Lily, my landlady and geriatric room-mate, was
rarely at home. She had a boyfriend, Sam, who was a
cross between Mr. Maggoo and Popey the Sailor...
PART THIRTEEN:
There were eight. All perfectly spaced on the top
shelf. All blonde, combed or teased or sprayed and
hugging white faceless Styrofoam forms. I had never
ever tried on a wig before but without hesitation or
thought, I reached up and, with the kind of
reverence and respect I've only seen priests show...
PART FOURTEEN:
Of all of my albums, only one was suitable for a
drag doll cat walk. This wasn’t a job for The Cure
or Depeche Mode or New Order. Souxie and the
Banshees wouldn’t do neither would Soft Cell, Tin
Tin, Blancmange, ABC, Kate Bush or even the
Flashdance soundtrack. Only one singer could deliver
the goods...
